The instructions below detail the process for creating an API key in the Managed DNS portal (i.e. https://my.nsone.net). API keys allow you to make programmatic edits to your configuration and work with supported integrations.
If you are installing Private DNS or Enterprise DDI, you must first create an API key in the Managed DNS portal. Then, in order to access your Private DNS/DDI configuration programmatically, you will create an API key from the Private DNS/DDI portal. Instructions for creating an API key in the Private DNS/DDI portal may vary.
To create a new API key:
In the portal, click your username in the top right corner to reveal the drop-down menu and navigate to Account Settings > Users & Teams.
Select the API Keys tab.
Click Add Key.
Enter a name for the key and modify permissions, as desired.NOTE
Set the permissions for your API keys just as you would any other user in your NS1 account. You can add API keys to a team—allowing you to set and edit permissions in bulk.
When finished, click Create Key.
- IMPORTANT: Do not navigate away from the page without first toggling the show/hide icon to display the API key secret. Record the API key in a secure password manager or key vault for future reference. You will not be able to view the key after navigating away from this page. Read this article about API key security for details.
To edit or remove an API key:
Navigate to Account Settings > Users & Teams.
From the list of API keys associated with your account, click the pencil icon (to edit) or the trash can icon (to delete) to the right of the API key you would like to edit or delete.
