DHCP templates help you ensure consistency by compiling a list of DHCP options that can be applied to all of your objects. You can organize all of your organization’s policies into templates and easily apply them to multiple objects.
You can create DHCP templates for scope groups. Use DHCP templates to define DHCPv4 and DHCPv6 options for these objects, including client classes, lease renew and rebind options, wait time, and whether to enable ping check.
Note
If you set a value in a template, and that template is applied to an object, you cannot modify the templated DHCP values for that object. You can only modify that DHCP value via the template.
To view a list of your DHCP templates, open the DHCP page from the top navigation bar, then click Templates. A list of your DHCP templates appears.
You can create DHCP templates on the Templates page in the NS1 Connect portal.
Click DHCP > Templates in the top navigation. The DHCP templates list opens.
Click the + icon on the right side of the menu. The Create DHCP Template dialog opens.
Input a name, the object type for which the template should be designed, and which DHCP versions the template uses. Click Next: Add Settings to continue to the DHCP Template Settings page.
On the DHCP Template Settings page, you can modify the name, object type, and DHCP versions, as well as any options associated with either DHCP version. You can also lock the template to ensure that objects with this template cannot be modified, and you can specify whether ping check should be enabled for objects that use this template.
Click Save Template near the bottom of the menu to save the template configuration.
On the Templates page, you can modify DHCP template settings. Click the menu (three-dots) icon to the right of the template name, then click Edit.
The DHCP Template Settings page opens, where you can modify the settings for the template. These settings will be applied to any objects to which the template is applied.
After you create DHCP templates, you can apply them to objects. To apply a DHCP template to a scope group:
Click DHCP > Management to view your list of scope groups.
Click the menu (three-dots) icon to the right of the scope group name, then click Apply a DHCP Template. The Apply a DHCP Template dialog opens.
Start typing the name of the template in the box, then select it from the list that appears under the text box.
Click Apply Template. Scope groups that have templates applied to them have the Templated label to the right of the name.
To remove a DHCP template from a scope group:
Click the menu (three-dots) icon to the right of the scope group, then click Apply a DHCP Template. The Apply a DHCP Template dialog opens.
Click Remove Template in the Apply a DHCP Template dialog to remove the template from the scope group.
